How to Import FBX with Texture into Blender

Jul 27, 2024

Hey Blender enthusiasts, are you struggling to import FBX files with textures into Blender for your 3D modeling projects? Don't worry, I've got you covered with this quick and easy tutorial! First, make sure you have the FBX file and its accompanying texture file saved in the same directory. Open up Blender and go to File > Import > FBX (.fbx). Navigate to where your FBX file is saved, select it, and click 'Import FBX'. Once your model is imported, you'll notice that the textures are missing. But fear not, we can fix that! Go to the 'Shading' workspace and select the object that needs the texture. Then, create a new material and switch to the 'Shader Editor' tab. Click 'New' to create a new material, then click 'Open' and navigate to the location of your texture file. Select the texture file and click 'Open Image'. Now, connect the 'Color' output of the texture node to the 'Base Color' input of the 'Principled BSDF' node. Voila! Your model now has the correct texture applied to it. Finally, save your Blender project and you're good to go! That's all there is to it! Easy, right? Now you can confidently import FBX files with textures into Blender for all your 3D modeling needs. Happy blending!
