How to Import OBJ to ArtCAM

Sep 27, 2024

Hey everyone, today I'm going to show you how to import an OBJ file into ArtCAM for your 3D modeling and CNC machining projects. It's super easy, so let's get started!

Step 1: Open ArtCAM and create a new project or open an existing one.

Step 2: Go to the 'Modeling' tab and click on the 'Import' button.

Step 3: Select 'Wavefront OBJ' as the file type you want to import.

Step 4: Navigate to the location of your OBJ file and select it.

Step 5: Choose the options for how you want to import the OBJ file, such as the units and orientation.

Step 6: Click 'OK' and your OBJ file will be imported into ArtCAM.

Now you can use the imported OBJ file to create toolpaths for CNC machining or further modify it for your 3D modeling projects. It's that simple!

If you encounter any issues with the import, make sure your OBJ file is properly formatted and does not contain any errors. You can use 3D modeling software like Blender or 3ds Max to check and fix any issues with the OBJ file before importing it into ArtCAM.

So there you have it, importing OBJ files into ArtCAM is quick and easy, and opens up a world of possibilities for your 3D modeling and CNC machining projects. I hope this tutorial was helpful for you. Thanks for watching and happy modeling!
