How to Put a Cut Plane in Revit 3D View

Revit offers a powerful tool to visualize and analyze architectural designs in 3D views, and one of the key features is the ability to apply cut planes to these views. Cut planes allow you to slice through your building model and understand the spatial relationships between different elements. Here’s how to effectively put a cut plane in Revit 3D view.

Step 1: Open the 3D View

Before applying a cut plane, open the 3D view in which you want to work. This can be done by navigating to the View tab and selecting the 3D view from the list of available views.

Step 2: Activate the Section Box

Once the 3D view is open, go to the Properties palette and find the Section Box parameter. Check the box to activate the section box.

Step 3: Adjust the Section Box

After activating the section box, you can now adjust it to define the cutting plane in the 3D view. You can do this by clicking and dragging the blue grips that appear around the boundaries of the section box. This allows you to define the depth, width, and height of the cut plane according to your design needs.
