How to Save Illustrator File as OBJ

Oct 01, 2024

Hey everyone, today I'm going to show you how to save your Adobe Illustrator file as an OBJ format for 3D modeling! It's super easy and can open up a whole new world of possibilities for your designs. Here's how you do it:

Step 1: Once you've finished creating your artwork in Adobe Illustrator, make sure to save it as an SVG file. This will ensure that all the vector information is preserved.

Step 2: Now, open up Blender, which is a free 3D modeling software. Once in Blender, go to File > Import > SVG, and select your saved SVG file.

Step 3: After importing the SVG file, you'll need to make sure all the paths are converted to 3D objects. To do this, select all the paths and go to Object > Convert to > Mesh from Curve.

Step 4: Next, make any necessary adjustments to your 3D model within Blender. You can resize, rotate, or add textures to your design as needed.

Step 5: Once you're happy with your 3D model, it's time to save it as an OBJ file. Simply go to File > Export > Wavefront (.obj), and choose a location to save your file.

And that's it! You've successfully saved your Adobe Illustrator file as an OBJ format for 3D modeling. Now you can use your design for 3D printing, gaming, or any other 3D project you have in mind.

I hope this tutorial was helpful for you and that you're excited to explore the world of 3D design. Don't be afraid to experiment and create amazing things with your artwork!
