How to Export as .obj in Maya

Oct 05, 2024

Hey everyone, in today's tutorial I'm going to show you how to export your 3D models as .obj files in Maya. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced 3D artist, this process is essential for sharing your work or using it in other programs. So let's get started!

Step 1: Once your 3D model is ready, make sure everything is selected and there are no hidden objects.

Step 2: Go to 'File' in the top menu, then select 'Export Selection'.

Step 3: In the export dialog box, choose 'Wavefront (*.obj)' from the 'Files of Type' drop-down menu.

Step 4: Name your file and choose a location to save it.

Step 5: Click 'Export' to save your 3D model as an .obj file.

And that's it! You've successfully exported your 3D model as a .obj file in Maya. Now you can use it in other 3D programs or share it with others. Happy modeling!
