How to Make a 3D View Master

Oct 06, 2024

Do you remember the excitement of looking through a 3D View Master as a child? Why not recreate that experience by making your very own 3D View Master! With just a few simple materials and some creativity, you can make a unique and personalized 3D viewing device. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you create your own 3D View Master.

Materials you'll need:

1. Cardboard

2. Scissors

3. Tape or glue

4. Two identical small lenses

5. A selection of your favorite photographs or artwork

Step 1: Cut the cardboard into two identical rectangular pieces, approximately 10cm x 5cm in size.

Step 2: Cut a small rectangular window in the center of each piece of cardboard. Make sure the windows are the same size and shape.

Step 3: Place the two lenses in the center of each window and secure them in place with tape or glue.

Step 4: Choose your favorite photographs or artwork and cut them into small squares that will fit inside the window of the cardboard pieces.

Step 5: Place one of the cardboard pieces on top of the other, lining up the windows and lenses. Secure the two pieces together with tape or glue, leaving the top edge open so you can slide the photos in and out.

Step 6: Slide your chosen photographs or artwork into the open edge of the cardboard pieces.

Step 7: Hold your homemade 3D View Master up to the light and look through the lenses. You should see your images in stunning 3D!

You can create a variety of themed reels to slide into your 3D View Master, from travel photos to nature scenes to your own artwork. Get creative and have fun with this DIY project!
