How to Export Textured OBJ from Cycles

Oct 06, 2024

Hey everyone, in this article, I'm going to show you how to export a textured OBJ file from Blender's Cycles render engine. It's a quick and easy process, so let's get started!

Step 1: Create your 3D model and apply textures in Cycles. Make sure to set up your materials and UV maps for texture mapping.

Step 2: Once your model is ready, navigate to the 'File' menu and select 'Export' > 'Wavefront (.obj)' to export your model as an OBJ file.

Step 3: In the export settings, make sure to check the 'Selection Only' box if you only want to export the selected objects. Then, toggle on 'Write Materials' and 'Include UVs' to include the textures and UV maps in the OBJ file.

Step 4: Click 'Export OBJ' and save the file to your desired location.

Step 5: Now, you can open the exported OBJ file in any 3D software that supports OBJ format, and you should see your textured model with materials and UV maps preserved.

And that's it! You've successfully exported a textured OBJ file from Blender's Cycles render engine. Remember to double-check your UV maps and textures to ensure they are correctly exported and applied in the OBJ file.

I hope this article was helpful for you. If you found this tutorial useful, don't forget to like and share it with your friends. Happy 3D modeling!
