How to Convert OBJ to PMX

Oct 07, 2024

Hey everyone, today I'm going to show you how to convert OBJ files to PMX format for your 3D modeling and MMD projects. This process is really useful if you want to use OBJ files in MMD, and I'll be using Blender for the conversion. Let's get started!

Step 1: Open Blender

First, open Blender on your computer. If you don't have it yet, you can download it for free from the official website.

Step 2: Import OBJ File

Next, import the OBJ file that you want to convert to PMX. Go to File > Import > Wavefront (.obj) and select your OBJ file from the file explorer.

Step 3: Install the MMD Tools Add-on

In order to export to PMX format, you'll need to install the MMD Tools add-on. You can do this by going to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons and searching for 'MMD' in the search bar. Check the box next to 'Import/Export: MikuMikuDance Model (.pmd, .pmx)' to enable the add-on.

Step 4: Export as PMX

Now that you have the MMD Tools add-on installed, you can export your model as a PMX file. Go to File > Export > MikuMikuDance Model (.pmx) and choose a location to save your PMX file.

And that's it! You've successfully converted your OBJ file to PMX format. You can now use your PMX file in MMD or any other 3D modeling software that supports PMX format.

I hope this tutorial was helpful for you. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions or if there's anything else you'd like to learn about 3D modeling and conversion processes. Thanks for watching and happy modeling!
