How to Attach an Object in MMD

Oct 08, 2024

If you're using MikuMikuDance (MMD) for creating 3D animations, you may want to attach objects to your characters to enhance the scenes. Here's how you can do it in a few easy steps:

1. Open MMD: Launch the MikuMikuDance software on your computer.

2. Load Your Model: Select the model you want to attach an object to and load it into the workspace.

3. Load the Object: Click the 'Load' button and select the object you want to attach to the model. The object could be anything from accessories to props.

4. Move the Object: Use the manipulation tools in MMD to position the object where you want it to be attached to the model. You can use the translation, rotation, and scaling tools to adjust the object's placement and size.

5. Parent the Object: Once you have the object in the right position, you need to parent it to the model. To do this, select the object and then select the bone on the model that you want the object to be attached to. Then, right-click and choose 'Register' to set the parent-child relationship.

6. Test the Attachment: Move the model around to make sure the attached object moves with it. You can also test different poses and animations to ensure that the attachment works seamlessly.

7. Save Your Work: Once you're satisfied with the attachment, save your MMD project to preserve the changes.

With these simple steps, you can easily attach objects to your models in MikuMikuDance and create more dynamic and engaging animations. Experiment with different objects and placements to bring your scenes to life!
