Step 1: Select Your Model

Open your Maya project and select the 3D model you want to export to OBJ. Ensure that the model is positioned and scaled correctly before proceeding to the next step.

In the 'File' dropdown menu, hover your cursor over 'Export All' to reveal additional options. From the submenu, select 'Export All' to open the export dialog box.

Step 4: Set OBJ as File Type

In the export dialog box, you'll see a 'Files of Type' dropdown menu. Click on it and select 'OBJexport' to set the file type to OBJ. You can also choose a destination folder and set the file name at this point.

Before exporting, you have the option to adjust the export settings for the OBJ file. Maya provides various options such as triangulation, smoothing, and grouping that you can tweak based on your preferences.

After setting the export options, click on the 'Export' button to export your 3D model to OBJ format. Depending on the complexity of your model, this process may take a few moments.

Step 7: Confirm the Export

Once the export is complete, navigate to the folder where you saved the OBJ file to confirm that the export was successful. You can also open the OBJ file in a compatible 3D software to ensure that the model was exported accurately.
