How to Create an OBJ on Illustrator

Oct 12, 2024

Hey, everyone! Today, I'm going to show you how to create an OBJ on Illustrator. It's super simple and a great way to add dimension to your designs. Let's get started!

Step 1: Open Illustrator and create a new document. Make sure to set the dimensions and resolution to your liking.

Step 2: Draw the basic shape you want to turn into a 3D object. You can use the pen tool, shapes, or any other method to create your base design.

Step 3: Once you're happy with your 2D design, it's time to turn it into a 3D object. Go to 'Effect' > '3D' > 'Extrude & Bevel'. This will open up the 3D settings panel.

Step 4: In the 3D settings panel, you can adjust the extrude depth, bevel style, and more to customize the look of your 3D object. Play around with the settings until you achieve the desired effect.

Step 5: After you're satisfied with the 3D look of your object, click 'OK' to apply the 3D effect to your design.

Step 6: Now, your 2D design has been transformed into a 3D object! You can further customize it by adding color, gradients, shadows, and other effects to make it pop.

Step 7: Once you're done fine-tuning your 3D object, you can save it as an OBJ file. Simply go to 'File' > 'Export' and choose 'Wavefront (OBJ)' as the file format.

And that's it! You've successfully created a 3D OBJ on Illustrator. Now you can use your new 3D object in various design projects to add depth and visual interest.

I hope you found this tutorial helpful. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions or if there's anything else you'd like to learn about Illustrator. Thanks for watching and happy designing!
