How to Put MTL on OBJ in Unity

Oct 15, 2024

Hey there, Unity enthusiasts! Want to know how to take your 3D models to the next level by applying MTL files to OBJ models in Unity? Let's dive in! First, make sure you have your OBJ model and its corresponding MTL file ready. In Unity, import the OBJ model by simply dragging and dropping it into your project. Unity will automatically create a prefab for the OBJ model. Next, create a new material by right-clicking in the Assets panel, selecting Create > Material, and naming it appropriately. Now, drag and drop the MTL file into Unity to import the material properties. With the material selected, go to the Inspector panel and you'll see the material properties from the MTL file. You can adjust the properties such as diffuse color, ambient color, specular color, shininess, and more to customize the appearance of your 3D model. Finally, drag the material onto the OBJ model in the Scene or Hierarchy panel to apply it. Voila! Your OBJ model is now beautifully textured with the MTL file in Unity. Experiment with different materials and MTL files to achieve the visual style you desire for your 3D scenes. Have fun creating stunning and realistic visuals in Unity with this simple technique. Share your masterpieces with the world and inspire others! Happy modeling!
