How to Import an OBJ into After Effects Plexus

Oct 15, 2024

Hey guys, today I'm going to show you how to import an OBJ file into After Effects and use it with Plexus to create some mind-blowing visual effects. This process may seem a bit tricky at first, but I'll break it down for you step by step.

Step 1: Prepare your OBJ file. Make sure your OBJ file is properly formatted and ready to be imported into After Effects. You can create or download OBJ files from 3D modeling software like Blender or Maya.

Step 2: Install the Plexus plugin. If you haven't already, download and install the Plexus plugin for After Effects. Plexus is a powerful tool for creating motion graphics and visual effects.

Step 3: Import the OBJ file. In After Effects, create a new composition and then go to File > Import > File. Select your OBJ file and click 'Open' to import it into your composition.

Step 4: Create a new solid. With your OBJ file selected in the composition, create a new solid layer by clicking Layer > New > Solid. This will serve as the base for your Plexus effects.

Step 5: Apply Plexus to the solid. With the solid layer selected, go to Effect > Rowbyte > Plexus to apply the Plexus plugin to the layer. You can now start customizing the Plexus settings to create stunning visual effects with your OBJ file.

Step 6: Customize the Plexus settings. Play around with the Plexus settings to create the desired visual effects. You can adjust the particle count, color, depth, and other parameters to achieve the look you want.

Step 7: Add additional effects. You can further enhance your visual effects by adding other After Effects effects and adjustments to the composition. Experiment with different effects to take your creation to the next level.

And that's it! You've successfully imported an OBJ file into After Effects and used it with Plexus to create amazing visual effects. I hope you found this tutorial helpful. Don't forget to share your creations and tag me in your posts. Happy creating!
