How to Export OBJ from Maya

Oct 18, 2024

Hey everyone, today I'm going to show you how to export OBJ files from Maya, so you can use your 3D models in other software or game engines. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Open your 3D model in Maya. Make sure you have finalized the model and it's ready to be exported.

Step 2: Go to File > Export Selection. This will open the Export Selection window.

Step 3: In the Export Selection window, choose 'OBJexport' from the 'Files of type' dropdown menu. This will ensure that you export your model as an OBJ file.

Step 4: Navigate to the location on your computer where you want to save the OBJ file. Give it a descriptive name and click 'Export'.

Step 5: In the OBJexport options window, you can adjust the settings if needed. You can specify the export type, grouping, and other parameters. Once you're happy with the settings, click 'Export'.

And that's it! You've successfully exported your 3D model as an OBJ file from Maya. Now you can use it in other 3D software or game engines.

I hope this tutorial was helpful for you. If you have any questions or if there's anything else you'd like to learn about Maya, feel free to leave a comment and let me know. Thanks for watching!
