Oct 19, 2024

Hey, guys! Today, I'm going to show you how to view a 3D scene in After Effects to take your motion graphics to the next level. Follow these simple steps to make the most out of your 3D compositions.

Step 1: Open After Effects and create a new composition by clicking on 'Composition' and then 'New Composition.'

Step 2: Import your 3D elements or create 3D layers within the composition.

Step 3: To view the 3D scene, make sure the composition panel is set to the active camera view. You can do this by clicking on the 'Toggle Switches/Modes' button at the bottom of the composition panel and selecting the camera icon for the active camera view.

Step 4: Now, to navigate and view the 3D scene effectively, use the camera tools. You can access these tools by clicking on the 'Unified Camera Tool' icon in the composition panel.

Step 5: With the camera tools, you can orbit, pan, and dolly around the 3D scene to view it from different angles. Simply click and drag within the composition panel to use these camera tools.

Step 6: If you want to focus on a specific layer or element in the 3D scene, select the layer and press 'C' on your keyboard to bring up the camera tool. Then, click and drag around the layer to focus on it.

Step 7: Additionally, you can use keyboard shortcuts to navigate the 3D scene more efficiently. For example, 'C' for the camera tool, 'V' for the selection tool, and 'A' for the anchor point tool.

Step 8: To enhance your viewing experience, you can also adjust the camera options such as depth of field, focal length, and aperture to achieve different visual effects in your 3D scene.

Step 9: Lastly, don't forget to preview your 3D scene by scrubbing through the timeline to see how it looks in motion.
